This is a field test of the Coast SPG500 safety glass with a built-in (135 LM) spot light. These glasses are advertised as useful for industrial and close-quarters outdoor work. This field test takes the glasses out into the Arbor Hills Nature Preserve and tests them outside the intended design parameters.
My personal application for lighting systems is wilderness night Search and Rescue. Many of the tests conducted in this field evaluation are slanted towards possible use in a SAR loadout.
This review also tests primarily fit and function. A second review later in the fall or winter will test anti-fog, cold-weather endurance, and suitability for sustained multi-hour use in the field.
I noticed several issues during field testing while wearing a bump helmet. These observations may be of use to those evaluating the glasses for use with gloves and/or a helmet.
All video segments were filmed one-take (no retakes) with an iPhone 12 Pro MAX.
