We all know that ovens aren’t a safe toy for children to play with. What if I told you a company had created a “safe” oven for young children. When I think of a toy oven, I think of an oven where a child pretends to be baking. However, this oven was the real deal and could actually be used to prepare food. It was only a matter of time until this would go horribly wrong. And so it did..

In the 1950s Hasbro Inc, currently famous for very well-known toys such as Nerf, My Little Pony and Transformers, came up with a never seen before idea. They thought they could break the kids toys market by creating a real oven for kids to play with. The first Easy Bake Oven was released in 1963. Its technology was questionable from the start, since the heat source inside the plastic oven was a 100 watt light bulb that reached a temperature of 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Despite this danger, the ovens were purchased by thousands of parents all around America. As the years went by and the design of the oven progressed the dangers became more evident.
