Today marks the 81st anniversary of the attack at Pearl Harbor. The following day, Congress declared war on Japan. The Mather Airfield was reactivated and expanded during the Second World War as a training facility for pilots.

In this video, Susan shows a copy of the Sacramento Bee from December 8, 1941 and discusses Mather. During the war, women made up 46 percent of the civilian jobs at Mather Airfield.
