Smaller than usual crowds took advantage of sunny weather conditions today to enjoy time at Cape Town beaches. About five people have drowned at beaches since the start of December. Eight near-drownings were also reported, along with a near drowning at a city swimming pool.This comes despite a warning from the National Sea Rescue Institute for beachgoers to be cautious of rip currents.
