Autoimmune Hepatitis | Pathogenesis, Signs & Symptoms, Diagnosis, Treatment
Autoimmune hepatitis (AIH) is an condition involving autoimmune attack of the liver, leading to damage, inflammation and subsequent liver failure (cirrhosis). AIH comes in two types, an adult onset form and a juvenile form, each occurring with different autoantibodies. AIH can cause significant liver damage and subsequent failure, leading to characteristic signs and symptoms of liver disease. In this lesson, we discuss these signs and symptoms, along with how AIH is diagnosed and how it is treated.
