The Hessen Landesmuseum in Germany has opened an exhibition showing the tablewear of princes and paupers. According to experts the type of cutlery set on a table can reveal lot about the kind of people that ate from it.
The exhibition has a range of cutlery spanning 900 years. Knives, forks, spoons in all their shapes and forms are on display. From gold, to wood to bone to ivory and mother of pearl the pieces reflect the social status of their former owners.
The exhibition, called "From the Farmers' to the Nobles' table" is mostly from the private collection of German cutlery expert Klaus Marquardt.
