Running a business is never too easy specially with a product so "sensitive" and even "perishable," said Dustin Andaya, president of the Philippine Cut Flower Corporation. In 1983, Andaya's father, the late Armando Andaya who ran a consultancy firm, visited Holland and Netherlands for flood control projects and there he discovered the technology for the greenhouses. Armando brought home the greehouse technology, yet choosing not just any plant to grow with it but "one of the most difficult"--the roses. Currently, the farm has seven computer-automated greenhouses, among them a glass greenhouse that is the only one of its kind in the country. It uses a Dutch technology while the rest, made with plastic roofs, are run with technology from France.
