The blog was destroyed by hackers out in Asia (no seriously) so the detailed instructions are right here:
Ingredients:
2 Angel food cake rounds (the kind with the hole in the middle)
Frosting (We used chocolate and vanilla and added food coloring from there)
Edible decorations (we used candy rocks, Swedish fish, crumbled chocolate cookies, some sort of gummy tree, etc...)
1 lbs. dry ice (do not let small children handle dry ice- it can burn them)
1 package of red gelatin (strawberry, raspberry, etc...)
1 tall and narrow cup (taller and narrower than the one pictured in the video)
gloves- the heavy winter kind
a rubber mallet
Start by connecting the two angel food cake rounds with frosting. Next, with a sharp knife shape the cake into a cone (volcano shape) with the existing hole at the top to be your crater. Then insert your tall, narrow cup into the hole getting the top of the cup flush with the top of the cake. Frost the outside of your cake and decorate as desired. Prepare the gelatin according to the directions on the box until they tell you to refrigerate, the liquid will be hot so be careful (you can let it cool, just don't refrigerate it- you need it to be liquid). Pour enough gelatin liquid into the cup in the cake to fill the cup, leaving about an inch at the top. After wearing the heavy gloves take out the dry ice. Do not let it touch exposed skin. put the dry ice on a paper bag or some other clean drop cloth like a towel. Gently crush the dry ice into smaller pieces. While still wearing the gloves add the dry ice to the cup of gelatin. After a few moments the gelatin will start to bubble and soon pour over the side. Add more dry ice as desired. When the volcano is finished bubbling and erupting there will be a layer of gelatin on the outside of your cake. It is safe to eat. Enjoy!
