I had a consulting opportunity which required me to go to Oman 3 times in 3 months. There are no direct flights from Melbourne to Muscat, so I went with Air India. It's an 12 hour flight to Delhi and then another 2.5 hours to Muscat.

Air India was about 20% cheaper than Oman Air (via KL of BKK), and less than half the price of Emirates or Qatar business to Muscat.
