On July 7, 1991, in Newark, NJ, greatness was born! Chamaigne Stone was raised in Montclair, New Jersey, where she attended Montclair High School. From a young age, Chamaigne was deeply influenced by her great-grandmothers, who instilled in her the importance of food security. Through their guidance, she learned the art of growing her own food, canning, pickling, preserving, and candying, to name just a few skills. During high school, she led the culinary club and captained the all-girls robotics team, while also gaining valuable experience working in local restaurants and pubs.
After high school, Chamaigne attended The Culinary Institute of America (CIA), where she advanced her culinary knowledge and honed her skills. However, the passing of one of her beloved great-grandmothers led her to leave the CIA before completing her studies. Despite this setback, Chamaigne's passion for food never waned. She worked in child nutrition before relocating to Washington, D.C., in 2012.
In D.C., Chamaigne thrived, working in several prestigious fine dining restaurants and diamond-rated hotels. She also had the unique opportunity to collaborate closely with the Archdiocese and renowned chefs, including José Garcés and other culinary talents. Her dedication and skill quickly propelled her through the ranks, and she gained experience in nearly every position in the industry, including as a butcher!
Now based in Delaware, Chamaigne serves as the Corporate Executive Chef of 1857 Jackson House in Dover, DE, which opened its doors in May 2023. The restaurant has already garnered attention from several newspapers and local media outlets, winning Best New Restaurant in Delaware 2023 just a few months after opening. With less than a year of operation, they are already expanding to a second location in Middletown, DE. Chamaigne's achievements have also earned her a spot in the Who's Who of America 2024 edition.
Chamaigne is excited to continue her culinary adventures, bringing creativity and delicious food to her customers' plates. The future is bright, and she is ready to keep pushing boundaries in the culinary world! @Chef_Chamaigne
