Brake squeal driving you nuts? Most shops will tell you, "You need new brakes!" But here’s the secret: you might not need a brake job at all. If the pads have 4mm+ thickness, this brake service will get you by most of the time. If you have less than 4mm, just replace the pads. We also recommend new rotors when replacing pads. Cutting the rotors works but taking away rotor thickness by cutting them down only makes them weaker. For not much more money, just replace them.
To fix glazed brake pads, you can try resurfacing the brake pads with 60 - 80 GRIT sandpaper.
If glazing happens often, you may need to evaluate your driving style. You may need to learn not to ride the brakes or to constantly hard stop your vehicle.
