Panelists: Beth Cunningham, AAPT CEO; Gary Felder, Smith College; Alexis V. Knaub, P/A SEA Change Director
The Physics and Astronomy STEMM Equity Achievement (SEA) Change program support postsecondary physics and astronomy departments in the U.S. and U.S. Territories through self-assessment and action planning to ensure departments are excellent, equitable, diverse, and inclusive. Departments participating in a cohort can receive a Bronze recognition if their plan is well-supported and shows promise to improve their department.
This is a collaboration among AAPT, American Astronomical Society (AAS), American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM), American Institute of Physics (AIP), American Physical Society (APS), AVS (Science and Technology of Materials, Interfaces, and Processing), National Society of Black Physicists (NSBP), National Society of Hispanic Physicists (NSHP), the Physics and Astronomy Division of the Council on Undergraduate Research, and Optica. P/A SEA Change is a disciplinary equivalent to the AAAS SEA Change, with whom we partner in this endeavor.
We are recruiting for our fourth cohort. Find out more about our activities and what we’ve accomplished, including learning about the process from Gary Felder, who led the Smith College physics department in receiving the very first P/A SEA Change Bronze Award.
