Denis Kabiito from the Uganda National Farmers’ association talked to the secretariat about importance of the agricultural sector for rural youth employment. He listed several policy priorities that can help realise the potential of youth in rural areas. Actions targeting skills enhancement, rural-urban linkages, services and support for youth organisations can help increase the attractiveness of the sector for the youth. Donor agencies should continue their work on capacity and skills development and focus on future partnerships with civil society.
