About the event
Celebrating 10 years of Community Service
The 1st Annual Gala was created to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the New Rising Star Support Corporation, The Gala is a Black Tie Fundraiser that will commemorate 10 years of service and raise funds to continue our efforts.
We would love for you to join us. Entertainment will be provided by Birmingham’s comedic Mrs. V and jazz-flutist, Kim Scott. This event will kick off our 2015 Campaign for Giving (click here to view our community services). A Three course dinner and Red Carpet photo will be included.
The event will be held on February 21, 6 PM, NRS Christian Family Life Center, 7400 London Avenue, Birmingham, Alabama, 35206.
Tickets are $50 and is tax deductible. All proceeds will go to our Community Support Corporation to help us continue educating children, providing affordable housing, transporting seniors, helping single mothers, etc.

Comedian Ms. V (Birmingham native Valencia Johnson).
Velancia Johnson is a Comedian, but most of all a Motivational Speaker! She is known as an "Inspirationalist". Her heart is geared toward empowering my sistahs, jumpstarting their ambition and developing an increase of sisterhood among our community!
Kim Scott, Flutist
Kim (Felder) Scott is one of the most sought after flutists in both the classical and jazz fields. Born in Birmingham, Alabama, she has performed across the country and abroad since 2000 in recitals, concerts, and with her flute and harp ensemble, Kimoni Duo, with Monica Hargrave, harp.
Ms. Scott has also been featured as a soloist with professional combos and orchestras across the United States and South America. Currently, she is Chair of the Department of Music at the Alabama School of Fine Arts where she teaches flute.
