Embraer is responding to recent media reports and confirming that it has no plans to venture into the 150+ seat aircraft market, which is currently dominated by the 737 and A320 families.
This comes after a Wall Street Journal report published on Wednesday, May 1st, indicated that the Brazilian manufacturer had the expertise to quote “develop a next-generation narrow-body aircraft, it's first in that market segment”. Citing company sources, the WSJ said that Embraer’s internal assessments revealed that it has the quote “technological know-how and manufacturing might” to pull-off such a project.
