The COVID-19 emergency has had a significant impact on elderly population, as the fragmented data currently available demonstrates. In this context, great emphasis has been attributed to the outbreak of the epidemic in facilities used by people who are elderly, especially residential centers, whose patients have been exposed to a higher transmission incidence. The objective of this webinar is to investigate how these phenomena have been managed and to trace a detailed analysis that considers the specificities of the elderly care sector, starting from the peculiar case of Italy, before and after COVID-19. The emergency has in fact uncovered an already highly fragmented context, both in service provision and policy configuration, escalating its critical issues. Finally, the absence of crisis management enables a reflection on the lessons learned so far that are common to many European countries.
