Lucid Motors recently gave a sneak peek of an upcoming midsize electric crossover set to debut in 2026. While the company did not confirm the vehicle’s name, speculation points to "Lucid Earth," following the brand’s pattern of nature-inspired names like the Air and Gravity models.
The new crossover seems to maintain Lucid’s sleek design language but deviates from the station wagon appearance of the Gravity. This new model is set to compete in the highly competitive midsize electric vehicle market, going head-to-head with Tesla’s Model Y and Rivian’s upcoming R2. Lucid has revealed that the vehicle will be priced at "under fifty thousand dollars," aligning it with the pricing of the Tesla Model Y.
What sets this crossover apart is Lucid’s promise of superior technology. The automaker claims the new model will be more energy-efficient than its competitors, which should allow it to achieve similar driving ranges using a smaller battery. This efficiency could prove to be a game-changer in terms of profitability, as Lucid is still working to strengthen its financial standing.
The company has been transparent in identifying Tesla as its primary rival in the electric vehicle market, both in the United States and internationally.
