In this episode of my series “Walks in Dorset”, I take a 5 mile circular walk from the village of Glanvilles Wootton which is located 6 miles South of Sherborne (although I actually started & finished the walk from the Hunters Moon pub at Middlemarsh). Once again I am accompanied by my Whippet, Logan.
I parked my car at the Hunters Moon pub which is located at Middlemarsh, just to the South West of Glanvilles Wootton and initially headed directly towards the village using a footpath across fields.
After a wander through Glanvilles Wootton – including a visit to the delightful Church of St Mary – I headed West along the side of Loaders Hill (crossing the Caundle Brook).
After crossing the A353, I continued Westwards along the Northern side of Common Wood until I reached Rhyehorn. At this point, I headed South on the side of Middlemarsh Common until I got to Hurdley Wood.
The final leg of my route took me Eastwards through the top end of Black Wood, back to the Hunters Moon pub.
