Watch the winners and finalists for the Global Development Awards and Medals Competition 2012 talk about their research and how they hope to use their prize monies to contribute to socio-economic development. The Competition is an innovative annual award scheme launched by Global Development Network (GDN) with generous support from the Ministry of Finance, Government of Japan, and other donors. Since its inception in 2000, GDN has provided US$ 3.6 million in research and travel grants to finalists and winners. This year, the Competition received 710 submissions. The winners were selected by a panel of judges at the GDN 14th Annual Global Development Conference, Manila, the Philippines in June 2013. The finalists presented their proposals and papers to over 400 researchers and practitioners that attended the conference.
