These are scenes of a quick mission I whipped up when I finally got access to the new DCS Syria map. For the past 6 months or so I've really been getting into the older, less high-tech aircraft in DCS. Started the year focusing on C-101CC, then moved to L-39. Spent a couple of months getting to know and enjoy the Mig-19P and then proceeded and am still enjoying the F-5E3. I've begun flying the superb Mig-21Bis again.
This mission was based on my desire to use the Syria map and the neat Syria Arab Air Force skin for the DCS Mig-21Bis. The mission is one where you fly as a SAAF pilot tasked with hitting an ISIS controlled Air Base in Palmyra located in the western part of the new map.
I make three runs to drop bombs, two are lucky, the third and final not lucky. Regarding the second run, I had forgotten to switch pylons for bombs I had wanted to drop and thus ended up as a dry run. Still learning to drop bombs in the DCS Mig-21Bis. It is a fun aircraft module but the cockpit is a heavy workload to take on. So many switches and sequences to remember when trying to set up aircraft for combat.
I tried to make it look like a battle is going on below, to add to the immersion for the player-pilot. There are all kinds of Syrian AI attack aircraft hitting the Air Base with you and if you look closely, you can see some of the air-strikes and the results of those AI bombing aircraft.
It is a fun little mission and I think I'm going to expand on it with additional spin-offs based on the original.
Hope you enjoy these various scenes.
Cheers.
