For the kitchen island countertop end caps, trimming the excess laminate can be a real chore.

In the previous video, I applied the countertop end caps using a hot iron on the cotton setting. The end caps have excess laminate that now must be trimmed.

In this video, I use two methods to remove this excess laminate. On one end I use a small pair of carpet shears to remove most of the excess laminate, then file down the remaining portion. This method is tedious and I did not like it!!

In the second method I used a trim router with a flush cut trum bit to remove a remarkable amount of the excess laminate, thereby reducing the work load for this task.

Hands down the trim router was more efficient, but if you don’t have one, the other method will work- just is more labor intensive. You can do it-take your time 😊
