A Belgian Seaman Book is a personal proof in which the voyages are registered on a Belgian seagoing ship. Belgian Seaman Book allows a marine to work within the European Union.

Conditions

have been found to be physically and psychologically fit through a medical examination
have the appropriate training according the STCW 2010 as amended
bound by an "employment contract for ship service" for a Belgian seagoing vessel.
No sailor's books are issued to shipping company inspectors, divers, entertainers and others who are not part of the crew as sailors.

Requirements:

two recent, equal passport photos (according to regulations official passport photos);
a copy of the identity card (or for foreigners of an international passport);
a copy of the medical examination for seafarers, drawn up by a doctor of an approved medical centre. Please note that the medical examination shall be valid for a maximum of 24 months, unless the sailing area is limited;
a copy of the certificate "Basic Safety Training (A - VI/1) or in specific cases Personal Survival Techniques (A - VI/1-1);
a copy of the employment contract for ship service.
