Brent from Gray House Studio is talking about toilet handles and why it is always the last piece of hardware in the bathroom to get an upgrade. We took our silver toilet handle and finished it oil rubbed bronze and we are going to show you how.

Start by removing the handle or any hardware you plan on painting.

Then purchase a can of dark primer, copper spray paint for the first layer and then a can of oil rubbed bronze for the second layer.

The surface of your hardware needs to be sanded so the paint has some teeth to bite into.

Next, tape off any area you don't want to paint like the threads of the handle.

Then paint the first layer of primer and second layer of copper. Then allow plenty of time to dry before painting on the oil rubbed bronze.

Finally, scuff up any areas you want the copper highlights to show through. We scuffed up the edges.

Now our toilet handle matches the existing oil rubbed bronze hardware in our house.
