Explore ancient Sardinia in September 2021 with Megalithomania (postponed from June 2020): [ Ссылка ]. Santo Stefano Rock Altar is a neolithic site in northern Sardinia that has remarkable rock carvings, niches, false doorways, solar symbols and cup-marks. It resembles sites such as Sacsayhuaman in Peru and provides evidence that the early inhabitants were adepts of working with stone. It sits next to Santo Stefano Chapel, hence the name. It may have been created by the Ozieri culture or the Nuragic civilization, but its origins and use are still unclear. It may be ceremonial, where sacraments were placed in for religious purposes, and some of the designs could even be a form of calendar. Includes exclusive aerial footage.
