On June 21, at Institutional Investor's Hedge Fund of the Year Awards in New York City, MFA President and CEO Richard H. Baker presented Ash Williams, Executive Director and Chief Investment Officer of the Florida State Board of Administration and a Member of MFA's Board of Directors, with the Outstanding Achievement Award.
Baker noted Williams's strong connection to the industry as well as his innovative approach to investing for the Florida State Board of Administration, which manages the state's pension funds. He also discussed that Williams has been deeply involved with the industry through MFA, where aside from serving on the Board of Directors he is also a member of the Institutional Investor Advisory Committee and has spoken at MFA conferences and events many times in the past -- including at the recent Forum 2012 conference in Chicago.
Williams brings an important viewpoint to MFA's work. His representation of institutional investors -- along with other investor-community stakeholders -- ensures that the investment community has a seat at the table as MFA plans its advocacy on behalf of the industry. MFA congratulates Williams on his award, and is honored to have been a part of the ceremony.
