The Mangyongdae Prize International Marathon (Pyongyang Marathon) is a competition and celebration in the honor of the late Kim Il Sung, who was born in Mangyongdae. Held once a year in celebration of Kim Il Sung's birthday, this is the only time when North Korea allows foreigners to run freely through the streets of Pyongyang without government escorts.
