The subspecies Sri Lankan sloth bear (Melursus ursinus inornatus) is endemic to Sri Lanka, which is found mainly in lowland dry forests. The sloth bear has to quench its thirst frequently and cannot go on for prolonged periods of time without water.
This one was filmed in Yala National park, during the dry season at one of the few remaining water-holes trying to cool itself by having a bath.
