The Roland E-X10 retails for just under $200 at Costco. I recently had a chance to unbox and do a quick sound test of this model. The keyboard teacher at my Dad’s music school required an additional keyboard and this was the model we purchased.
It has “touch key” function for volume dynamics, several built-in sounds and beats too. It’s an excellent option for gigging, due to it’s light weight, and it conveniently takes AA batteries, as opposed to the heavy D batteries in portable keyboards of years past. It can be plugged into a PA system or external amp, and one can use headphones for silent listening when playing. The lack of an included “gig bag” is one downside—especially considering the marketing of it as a gig instrument—so I’ve linked the corresponding bag below.
