The government introduced the composition scheme for small taxpayers as a means to reduce their compliance burden. Businesses with a turnover of up to Rs.1.5 crore (Rs.75 lakh in the case of special category states) or Rs.50 lakh in the case of service providers can opt into the composition scheme, subject to fulfilling the required conditions.
