Instant Malabar Style Harees / Alsa /Aleesa
I have used here @harrawaysnz whole rolled oats for this oat and chicken porridge . You can also use instant quick oats . If you plan to use broken wheat ( then be sure to soak wheat in water for good 3-4 hrs )
Rolled whole oats -2 cup
Chicken- 400 gm (bone or bone less )
Onion -1 sliced
Garlic -2 pc sliced
Cardamom-2
Cinnamon-1 pc
Bay leaf -1
Clove -2 pc
Coconut milk -1 cup thick milk (I have used coconut milk powder)
Water -4 cup (and more if needed)
Ghee - 1 tbs
Ghee fired onions -1 tbs
Ghee friend cashews-2 tbs
Salt
To a pan add chicken, cloves , cardamom, cinnamon, bay leaf , onion , garlic , salt and little water and cook the chicken . When chicken is almost cooked add the oat and all the water and cook the porridge till we’ll cooked . Then remove the raw spices and pound the cooked chicken ( if using with bones remove the bones ) . Mix well and cook oats and chicken together if you want it smooth consistency can blend in a blender. Then add thick coconut milk and mix well . Add the friend onion and cashews. As little ghee on top . And it’s ready to serve .
