Right out the box the Pacer can give you full foot remote control over your favourite DAW. That's a very handy thing for a guitarist! Then there's the 24 presets (all fully customisable) that cater for Line 6, Avid, Kemper, Fractal Audio and other manufacturers mainstream products - all written into the Pacer's firmware. If you're an Axe-FX III user and don't yet have a suitable MIDI control for your unit, the Pacer can help as I lightly demonstrate here. I've got it changing presets up and down, Scene switching 1-5 and a couple of effect blocks on/off. The Pacer's footswitches can be programmed to do just about anything including note sends (6 at a time!), relay switching, program changes... the works. It's a very solid unit, generously priced and super flexible. The support at Nektar is great if you need it and there are retailers all over the world. A winner for those looking for simple, tough, flexible MIDI and DAW control.
