Roland DG's products for dental laboratories were well-received at the IDS in Cologne (D). Those visiting the trade fair were enthusiastic about the price, ease of use and size of these milling devices for use in the production of dental prosthesis. Another big bonus is its compatibility with a range of materials, including the very latest ceramics/composite materials.
Roland DG took part in the International Dental Show for the second time. The level of interest and resulting number of customer contacts increased dramatically. Dirk Sollmann, Business Development Manager in Dental Solutions at Roland DG said: "Despite 25 years' worth of experience in the development of milling machines, we only entered the dental market three years ago. The last IDS was an opportunity for us to get to know the users in the industry. This year, we noticed that people are getting to know us better and that our concept and equipment are a great success."
At the IDS, Roland DG was able to show that its machines for dental technicians are part of a truly 'open system'. The DWX-50 milling machine is compatible with various types of scanners, milling tools and CAD/CAM programmes. Users can also choose from several materials such as zirconium, PMMA, hybrid materials and wax. It can even process newer materials, for example, certain composite materials and nanoceramics.
The DWX-50 is a compact and budget-friendly device, in which ease of use takes precedence. The calibration and production processes are entirely automatic. The automatic tool changer means the user does not have to do anything once the job has been started.
Besides the DWX-50, Roland DG also introduced a prototype of the DWX-4. Dirk Sollmann explains: "The DWX-4 is a milling machine that we will be putting on the market in the second half of this year. It is a very compact unit, equipped with four axes. We are confident that the device will appeal to smaller labs, who want to start using CAD/CAM."
