The World Health Organization has declared the end of the Marburg virus outbreak in Equatorial Guinea, following a four-month epidemic in the central African country.
Speaking during a WHO press briefing, the organisation's director-general, Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said the outbreak's end comes "42 days after the last patient was discharged from treatment" and that there were "17 laboratory-confirmed cases, including 12 reported deaths".
Ghebreyesus also pays tribute to "the health workers who put themselves in harm's way to serve others", as well as those "who paid the ultimate price."
