Abram Shatskes playing Medtner's Fairy Tale, op. 8 no. 1, recorded in 1958. Shatskes studied with Medtner and with Karl Kipp. He taught at the Moscow Conservatory from 1928-1961 (among his students were Anna Kantor--Kissin's teacher--and Maria Gambaryan). His son Boris Shatskes was also a well-known pianist and professor (who studied with Goldenweiser). Abram Shatskes' recording of Medtner's second concerto is on CD.
