How to color clay using Mason Stains, and then turn it into a marble slab for hand building pottery.
1. Pick your Mason Stain color ✨ and decide how much color you would like to add. I chose to add 7% of the weight of my clay for a medium intensity of color.
2. Weigh your clay. I had 2 pounds of BMX clay here.
3. Add 63 grams of Mason Stain (7% of 2 pounds) to you clay along with a bit of water.
4. Wedge the Mason Stain into your ceramic clay.
5. Layer a slab of white clay, a slab of colored clay, white clay, colored clay etc.
6. Wedge the layered ball of clay to marble the colors.
7. Cut your wedge of clay and roll through a slab roller.
8. Make your favorite pottery piece from your marbled slab! 🎨
