The last-gen Charger and Challenger are dead — long live the Dodge Charger. The all-new Charger not only takes the place of the prior cars with two- and four-door configurations, but it serves as Dodge’s first-ever all-electric vehicle with the new Charger Daytona.
As you might expect, it’s quite the controversial car. West Coast Bureau Chief Conner Golden was on hand at the Charger Daytona’s launch program, where he experienced all the fab — and flaws — to be found on the new hi-po Scat Pack trim. (Per our ethics policy, Cars.com pays for its own travel and accommodations when attending such manufacturer-sponsored events.) Dual electric motors and a 100.5-kilowatt-hour battery make for a juicy max of 670 horsepower and 627 pounds-feet of torque, enough for a 3.3-second 0-60 mph sprint and a quarter-mile time in 11.5 seconds.
Stout stuff, but will the Charger Daytona’s artificial “Fratzonic Chambered Exhaust” sound and muscle-car motifs be enough to win over Mopar loyalists, even with a starting price tag around $75,000? You’ll have to watch the full video to find out.
