Detected in 1991 in the Pacific between New Zealand and South America, the Upsweep is an intriguing sound and as of now has been tentatively attributed to the sound of underwater volcanic activity. It mainly consists of narrow bands of upsweeping sounds lasting several seconds in duration. Is it produced by volcanic activity or something else?
