The rev limit for a stock 2gr-fe engine is 6400rpm. It is well-known that the rev limit can be raised to 7,200 - but this runs the risk of engine damage from flinged rockers under sustained use. We look at high performance valve-train enhancements that could help to make a 9000 RPM 2GR-FE engine a reality. Items like lightweight rocker arms and solid lifters from other vehicles can be substituted for the stock compenents to give improved performance. Little or no modification is required.
