Andrew McCarthy--no one more qualified--has written an article on Fox News detailing how President Trump might be in legal jeopardy. If Andy is correct, it will devolve into one of the most bloody (figuratively and perhaps literally) fights in American political history.
It's difficult to imagine Trump supporters seeing this selective prosecution (e.g. Obama and many others have skated on misuse of campaign fund charges (far greater numbers too) with no more than a fine, not even a slap on the wrist) as anything but the most extreme partisan hack job.
🔴 Obama’s 2008 presidential campaign was guilty of violations involving nearly $2 million – an amount that dwarfs the $280,000 in Cohen’s case – the Obama Justice Department decided not to prosecute. Instead, the matter was quietly disposed of by a $375,000 fine by the Federal Election Commission.
Ironically, much like the Kavanaugh hearing may have saved the Senate for the Republicans, it could be the rallying cry that pushes Trump over the top in 2020.
It's becoming clear what Mueller's corrupt investigation is all about. Aside from the nauseatingly familiar Washington corruption of the Manafort/Podesta stripe, the Great Russia Probe of 2016-2018 (and onwards) has morphed into a more nauseatingly familiar Washington sex scandal. This should be a humdrum story, especially at the presidential level, especially since as many as half (possibly more) of our presidents have probably had extramarital affairs, seamy and otherwise. And, yes, there were payoffs -- some of which we know about and some of which we undoubtedly don't.
