Onion traders in Maharashtra have threatened agitation if the center goes ahead with its plans to impose a duty on the vegetable’s export. Exports of onions have sky-rocketed in the past year and are cited as one reason for their price rise. On Saturday, the government imposed a 40% export duty to cool domestic prices.
