In this video, Todd takes you step by step on how we saved our hive after our queen bee died. A laying queen is critical to the survival of the hive, and this video will take you through everything we did during the 3 week period of finding out the queen was dead, till the hive had a new laying queen. The things in this video were critical as weather prevented the queen, the hive had made, from doing its mating flight. We take you from finding out the queen was dead, the new queen hatching, adding brood to the hive, killing the new queen, putting a mated queen we had bought into the hive, having the queen accepted by the hive, and verifying the new queen is laying eggs. A lot of people in our area are having issues with their package queens dying, so this video will show how we got our hive to go from almost dying to thriving. Some of the steps are critical and shows the importance of monitoring your hives, as consistent bad weather prevented a mating flight and our hive would have been lost if we had let it be.
