The United Nations refugee agency says 20,000 civilians have been forced to leave their homes in the east of the Democratic Republic of Congo following a series of attacks by armed groups. The bulk of the violence in recent months has been focused on North Kivu province where dozens of armed groups have been terrorising communities for decades.
