The Little Rann of Kutch, popularly known as "LRK" is a salt marsh in Gujarat. This Indian Wild Ass Sanctuary was created in 1973 and covers nearly five thousand square km.

Salt panning is a crucial seasonal activity in the Rann of Kutch, producing majority of India's inland salt. During the monsoon season, It gets connected with Gulf of Kutch. The underwater table of Kutch is filled with saltwater. After the water recedes in October, the natural climate conditions allow evaporation of the water, leaving only the salt crystals. This vegetation is mainly xerophytic as groundwater is scarce and forms the favourite food of the Wild Ass.

LRK has 253 flowering Species of which few are endemic.

Ginger prawn are endemic to this area and have high demand since it is seasonal fishing from July to September.

The sanctuary is home to many migratory and land birds such as the sarus crane, ducks, pelicans, and flamingoes. It is also home to many land birds like the sandgrouse, the francolin and the Indian bustard. It is also home to various mammals such as the Indian wolf, desert fox and nilgai.

You can travel in your own vehicle however you need a guide else you may get lost in the desert as there is no plantation and everything looks the same and you will not get any network.
