Fierce fighting continues to rage in the Drenica region of central Kosovo on Thursday (06/08), swelling the number of refugees seeking safety. More than 30,000 refugees have flooded into the town of Mitrovica from the hills of Drenica. Once in the town, many of the refugees are being helped by locals. As refugees arrive they are greeted by villagers who offer them water and food before trying to find a billet for the night. The refugees are registered and a home is found for them. It is a chance for the refugees to stop and rest from the war they have left behind.
