A fine-sounding and unusual buffet-style antique music box made by Dawkins of Geneva, Switzerland in c. 1880. The musical movement has a twin-comb “Sublime Harmony” arrangements that gives it a particlarly nice tone and quality of music, enhanced by a fatter-than-average cylinder. The movement has been fully serviced and the maker’s mark is stamped on the governor. This music box plays eight well-known tunes as detailed on the (later) tunesheet. The case is veneered in rosewood with floral inlays to the doors, an inlaid motif to the top, and kingwood crossbanding on all sides.
