Climbing the Cassin route on Piz Badile in Switzerland. We opted for an early start from the Sasc Furä hut, starting up the first pitch at 4.30 in the morning, and topped out on the North ridge just before noon. From here, we abseiled, foregoing the summit.
Starting out so early, we only saw two other rope parties, and did minimal simulclimbing, as we weren't in a hurry. Routefinding was, it seemed, quite difficult on the 6th pitch, as our topo described traversing a long ways to the left from the start of the pitch. However, this was wrong: Go straight up (same place as featured in the video at 0:47 and 0:55), and then slightly left.
We climbed the Cassin route on August 15th 2017. The following week large parts of the neighbouring peak, Piz Cengalo, came crashing down.
