The Yorkshire Spa Swim Pond is a commercial natural swimming pool project and one of the UK’s first Spa swimming ponds.

Designed especially for 40 spa guests to swim each day, all year round in biologically filtered, chemical-free water, immersed in nature.

The pool has a footprint of nearly 400m2 and is the focal point of the spa garden, surrounded by sensory, pollinator-friendly planting wrapping around recreational spaces where guests relax beside the water, immersed in nature watching swallows dip and dragonflies dart across the water.

Through thoughtful design, mineral filters and the pool’s biological filters are positioned under sun decks to optimise the recreational space and bring people close to the water to relax in between spa treatments.

The pool has a shallow swim zone 13m long x 4.5m wide, surrounded by a generous, curving regeneration zone where deep aquatic plants carry out hydro-botanical filtration. Here water lilies are starting to flower in their first year, oxygenators grow underwater and a fringe of attractive marginal plants grow around the water’s edge.

The swimming pond offers a unique spa experience for guests-many coming to the spa especially to swim and enjoy the health benefits of wild swimming in the pure, sparkling clear water.

Within the first 6 months of completion, the pool has increased biodiversity, attracting amphibians, newts, pond life, and bats - a haven for people and wildlife.
