The association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) was established on August 8th, 1967 in Bangkok, Thailand, with its Secretariat in Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia. By 2019, ASEAN has 10 member countries: Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Myanmar and Vietnam. The member countries of the alliance have a total area of about 4.49 million square kilometers and a population of 660million. The association of Southeast Asian Nations is the third largest economy in Asia and the sixth largest economy in the world.
