"Delhi Fire Services Chief Atul Garg Saturday said that the four-storey building gutted in a massive fire near Mundka metro station had no fire NOC and clearance from the MCD. “It seems the entire building was illegal,” Garg said. Garg added that the rescue operation was over.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has announced a compensation of Rs 10 lakh each for families of those who died in the fire in Mundka on Friday. Those who have sustained injuries will be given Rs 50,000 as compensation. Kejriwal has also ordered a magisterial probe into the incident. The Delhi Police has also identified seven out of the 27 bodies found and the identification process of other bodies is on. The police have also decided to conduct a DNA identification test – in case they are not able to ascertain the identity of some of the victims, whose charred bodies were recovered. They have prepared a list of 29 missing persons, including 24 women, who went missing after the incident.
