The World Bank, with dedicated support from the National Information Society Agency (NIA) of Korea and Korea-World Bank Partnership Facility (KWPF), plans to co-host an online workshop “Learning from Korea’s Digital Response to COVID-19,” in collaboration with the International Academy of CIO and University of Central Asia. This event is part of the capacity-building workshop series under the World Bank’s Digital Resilience Program financed by KWPF. The program is designed to support the strengthening of the Kyrgyz Republic’s ability to understand, identify, monitor, and respond effectively to cyber threats and develop regional leadership capacity in digital resilience, including cybersecurity, business continuity, and personal data protection. The virtual workshop will help mainstream digital resilience within the Digital CASA Kyrgyz Republic Project and the broader Digital Kyrgyzstan Program.
At the workshop, NIA will introduce Korea’s approach and best practices in combatting the COVID-19 pandemic. It will highlight Korean policy measures based on public-private partnership and present examples of digital resilience in the Government services and higher education.
The webinar will conclude with a discussion on Korea’s Digital New Deal, one of the three pillars of Korea's recently introduced post-COVID initiatives to build a resilient economy. Digital New Deal, which aims to accelerate the transition towards a digital economy through innovation and competitiveness in the industry, focuses on stronger integration of Data, Network, and AI (DNA) throughout the economy and fostering a contact-free industry. Korea’s New Deal, composed of the Digital New Deal, the Green New Deal, and A Stronger Safety Net, aims to be the "blueprint for Korea for the next 100 years."
